Early Life and Education
Zsuzsa Andrea Baranyi was born on July 16, 1953, in Budapest, Hungary. In 1976, she graduated with a degree in Foreign Trade from KOTK, an institute of higher education in Budapest.
Career in Business and Finance
External Trade and Banking:- 1971-1977: Export Agent at Artex, the foreign trade subsidiary of the Herend Porcelain Manufactory
- 1977-1990: Commercial Representative at Artex
- 1990-1995: Department Head and then Deputy Department Head at the Budapest branch of Bank Leumi
- 1995-1998: Head of Current Operations and then Head of Lending at the Central Branch of OTP Group
Hungarian Development Bank and OTP Bank:
- 1998-2002: Deputy CEO of the Hungarian Development Bank (MFB), responsible for lending
- 2002-2005: Deputy CEO of OTP Bank South Pest
- 2005-2008: Deputy Manager of OTP Bank Central Branch- 2008-2010: Special Deputy Director for Client Servicing at OTP Bank Central Branch
Political Career
Minister of National Development:On December 23, 2011, Baranyi was appointed Minister of National Development in Orbán's second cabinet. She took over from Tamás Fellegi, who had resigned on December 8. As Minister of National Development, she oversaw foreign trade, international finance, energy, and major investments in that sector.
Commissioner for Postal Services and National Financial Services:
Baranyi was appointed Commissioner for Postal Services and National Financial Services in Orbán's third cabinet, formed on June 6, 2014. She was succeeded by Andrea Bartfai-Mager on July 6, 2016.
Retirement and Personal Life
Baranyi retired in 2016. She is fluent in English and German. She is married and has two daughters.
