Biography of Linda
Childhood and YouthSvetlana Geiman, better known as Linda, was born on April 29, 1977, in the Kazakh city of Kentau. She grew up as the youngest child in a family of Lev Isaakovich, a financier, and his wife Alexandra Vasilievna. Linda's mother, who had a degree in engineering, focused on raising the children. Linda had a sister named Elena. From an early age, Linda showed signs of being different. She slept only three hours a day and was always active, unable to sit still. Although it was difficult for her to make friends at school, Linda entertained herself with her own imagination.
Early Career
Linda's family later moved to the city of Tolyatti, where she attended a music school. While she enjoyed playing instruments, she found dictation and solfeggio boring. Linda also practiced acrobatics, which led to a serious accident when she fell from a height of 8 meters and ended up in the hospital. Doctors were skeptical about her recovery, but miraculously, Linda was able to walk again. At the age of 15, Linda and her parents moved to Moscow, where she developed an interest in theater. She frequented the "Ermitazh" theater, where she learned the basics of stagecraft from her teacher Yuri Galperin. With Galperin's recommendation, Linda applied to the Gnessin School, where she became a student on Vladimir Khachaturov's course. Initially, Linda hid her studies from her father, who wanted her to become a lawyer. However, once he realized that music was her true calling, he changed his opinion and supported her.
Music Career
At the beginning of her career, Linda collaborated with composers Vitaliy Okorokov and Vladimir Matetskiy. They helped her create her first songs. The debut music video for the song "Igra s ognem" showcased Linda's unique style, with director Fyodor Bondarchuk adding to its appeal. Linda's collaboration with producer Yuri Aizenshpis was short-lived, and she soon began working with talented arranger and composer Maxim Fadeev. Their partnership was highly successful, and Linda quickly became one of Russia's top stars, enriching the music scene with her fresh sound. Her debut album "Pesni tibetskikh lam" was released in 1994 and featured contributions from Olga Dzusova and a young Yulia Savicheva. The album was promoted by the label "Kristallnaya Muzyka" and received support from the radio station "Europa Plus." Although Linda's vocal abilities were criticized by some, her energy and unique style were widely appreciated.
Popularity and Controversies
Linda's popularity soared with the release of her album "Vorona" in 1996. The album's dark and atmospheric sound captivated listeners and became a huge success, selling over 2 million copies. However, controversies also followed Linda throughout her career. After the release of a music video for a song about banned substances, false rumors of Linda's death circulated in the media. Although she was actually in the hospital recovering from bronchitis, the rumors affected her reputation. Linda defended herself by pointing out the lyrics of the song, which warned against drug use.
Later Career
Linda's collaboration with Maxim Fadeev ended in 1998, and she embarked on a solo career. She released several albums, each showcasing her evolving style and artistic freedom. Linda also experimented with different musical genres and collaborated with various artists. In 2012, she married producer Stefanos Korkolis, but their marriage ended in 2014.
