Early Life and Education

Liparit Mirzaevich Israelian was born on November 20, 1922, in the village of Brnakot in what is now Armenia. His family was Armenian. Israelian completed secondary school and worked on a collective farm in his village.

Military Service

When the Great Patriotic War began in July 1941, Israelian volunteered for the Red Army. He trained as a telephone operator and was sent to the front in November 1942. He initially served with the 408th Rifle Division and participated in the defense of Gelendzhik. He later joined the 110th Guards Rifle Division.

Heroism at the Dnieper

As a telephone operator with the Separate Communications Company of the 110th Guards Rifle Division of the 37th Army, Israelian distinguished himself during the crossing of the Dnieper River near the village of Kutslolovka in Ukraine on September 30, 1943. He laid a cable across the river and established communications with the division's units that had crossed over.

During a battle to hold the bridgehead, Israelian engaged in close combat with enemy soldiers, killing several. He was wounded three times but remained on the battlefield.

Recognition and Awards

For his bravery, Israelian was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union on February 22, 1944. He received the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (number 2526).

Post-War Life

After the war, Israelian was demobilized with the rank of старшина (senior sergeant). He settled in the town of Sisian and worked as a dispatcher for Selkhoztekhnika.

Death and Legacy

Liparit Mirzaevich Israelian died on October 15, 1965, and was buried in his native village. He is remembered as a courageous soldier who played a vital role in the success of the crossing of the Dnieper River.
