Early Life and CareerLisa Helen Mitchell is an Australian singer-songwriter who grew up in Albury, New South Wales, Australia. She was born on March 22, 1990, in Canterbury, England, to Angus Mitchell and his wife Ruth. When she was three years old, her family moved to Australia, and Lisa and her sister Nicola grew up in the town of Albury in the southeastern part of the country. Lisa attended The Scots School Albury and began taking guitar lessons at the age of 12. It was during this time that she discovered her love for folk and rock music. She started performing in local cafes and events and played with a local cover band called 'Chrome', drawing inspiration from artists like Clare Bowditch and Joanna Newsom.
Australian Idol and Early Success
In August and September 2006, Mitchell gained national recognition as a contestant on the fourth season of the reality show 'Australian Idol'. She performed cover versions and a few original songs, finishing in 6th place before leaving the show. Following her appearance on 'Australian Idol', Mitchell signed a contract with 'Little Victories', a subsidiary of 'Sony/ATV', and released her debut EP titled 'Said One to the Other'.
