Early Career in Colombia

Luis Fernando Muriel Fruto is a Colombian professional footballer who currently plays as a striker for the Spanish club Sevilla FC. His footballing journey began in his native Colombia with the club Atlético Junior. In January 2008, he moved to another Colombian club, Deportivo Cali, where he spent a year in the youth team before being promoted to the senior squad in 2009.

Transfer to Italy and Loan Spells

On June 22, 2010, Muriel made the move to Italy, signing with Udinese. However, he was immediately loaned out to Spanish club Granada. After a season in Spain, he returned to Italy, and for the 2011/12 season, he was once again loaned out, this time to Lecce.

Goal-Scoring Debut in Italy

It was during his loan spell at Lecce that Muriel scored his first goal in the Italian Serie A, finding the net against Napoli on December 4, 2011. In a match against Parma on April 14, 2013, he registered his first brace for Udinese.

International Career

Muriel has represented Colombia at the under-20 level, scoring four goals in eight appearances. Following his move to Sampdoria, he became a more regular member of the Colombian national team.
