Maciej Iwański

Early Career

Maciej Iwański began his professional football career in 1999 with Unia Oświęcim. In 2000, he joined Szczakowianka Jaworzno, making his Ekstraklasa debut in 2002.

Zagłębie Lubin

In 2005, Iwański moved to Zagłębie Lubin, where he debuted in a 1-1 draw against KSZO Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. Zagłębie earned a third-place finish in the 2005/06 season, qualifying for the UEFA Cup. In the competition, Iwański played two matches against Belarusian side FC Minsk.

Ekstraklasa Champion with Zagłębie

The 2006/07 season proved to be successful for Zagłębie, as they won the Ekstraklasa title. Iwański also claimed the Polish Super Cup in 2007, defeating GKS Bełchatów 1-0. During his tenure at Zagłębie, he scored 27 goals in 96 appearances.

Transfer to Legia Warsaw

In 2008, Iwański transferred to Legia Warsaw for a fee of €650,000. He made his debut in a UEFA Cup qualifying match against Belarus' FC Gomel. Legia advanced to the next round before being eliminated by FC Moscow. Iwański also secured another Polish Super Cup triumph, beating Legia's arch-rivals Wisła Kraków 2-1.

International Career

Iwański made his debut for the Polish national team in 2006 in a friendly match against the United Arab Emirates. He scored his first international goal in a friendly against Estonia in 2007. In 2009, he featured in a World Cup qualifier against the Czech Republic. Despite his contributions, Poland failed to qualify for the tournament, finishing fifth in their group.
