Political Journey
Masilela's political career began with her election to the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature in 2019. Her 19th position on the African National Congress (ANC) provincial list marked the start of her legislative service.
Speaker of the Provincial Legislature
On March 2, 2021, Masilela's leadership qualities shone through when she was elected unopposed as the Speaker of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature. Her appointment drew praise from opposition parties like the Democratic Alliance and Freedom Front Plus.
Regional ANC Involvement
Masilela's influence extends beyond the legislature into the regional ANC branch in Ehlanzeni, the party's largest branch in Mpumalanga. In April 2022, she was elected as the ANC Ehlanzeni regional Deputy Chairperson, defeating Momaoto Tumbati.
