Manon Aubry

Manon Aubry was born and raised in San Raphael, France. She attended high school where she first became politically active, participating in protests against François Fillon's reforms and the first-time hiring law. She subsequently graduated from the Institute of Political Studies in Paris, where she led the branch of the National Union of Students of France, which is close to the Socialist Party. Aubry earned a degree in international relations and human rights and also studied at Columbia University in New York City.
Non-Profit and Advocacy Work
After completing her education, Aubry worked for the non-governmental organization Doctors of the World in Liberia and later for the Carter Center in the Democratic Republic of Congo. She then joined the French branch of Oxfam, where she became a spokesperson and focused on the issue of tax evasion, publishing several papers on offshore accounts. Aubry also pursued water polo for four years.
Political Career
In 2019, Aubry joined the left-wing party La France Insoumise and led its list in the European elections. Following the election, she was elected to the European Parliament, where she joined the European United Left/Nordic Green Left parliamentary group and became one of its co-chairs. In 2021, Aubry became the first French woman to lead a major political group in the European Parliament.
