Mansur Babakhanoyevich Babakhonov: A Renowned Scholar and Professor
Early Life and EducationMansur Babakhanoyevich Babakhonov was born on August 28, 1931, in Kanibadam, Tajikistan, to a working-class family. He attended school from 1938 to 1947 and later completed his final year of high school in Khujand due to the closure of senior grades in his hometown. After graduating, he moved to the capital city and enrolled in the newly established Faculty of History and Philology at the Tajik State University.
Academic Career
In 1953, Babakhonov graduated from university and enrolled in a postgraduate program. In 1958, he earned his PhD in history with a dissertation on "The Emergence of Capitalist Relations in Northern Tajikistan." He subsequently pursued a doctorate, focusing on "The Alliance of the Working People of the Turkestan Region with the Russian Proletariat." In 1974, he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation, receiving the degree of Doctor of Historical Sciences.
Publications and Research
Throughout his career, Babakhonov published extensively, with over 380 scientific and popular science articles, monographs, textbooks, brochures, and journal entries to his name. He participated in numerous international conferences and shared his research findings.
Educational Contributions
Babakhonov co-authored a history textbook for fifth-grade students titled "Stories of Tajik SSR History," which was published in three languages (Tajik, Uzbek, and Russian) in 1973. This textbook was used in schools until the mid-1990s.
History of Tajiks Studies
In the mid-1990s, Babakhonov pioneered the development of a program for the teaching of "History of Tajiks of the World" at universities in Tajikistan. He published several editions of his book "History of Tajiks of the World" in Russian and Tajik, with an updated version in progress.
