Marat Armenovich Akopdzhanyan was born on November 19, 1956, in the village of Dashalty, Shusha district of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast (NKAO). He is a Karabakh political and state figure who has made significant contributions to the region.

Early Life and Education

In 1973, Akopdzhanyan enrolled in the economics faculty of Yerevan State University, where he completed his studies in 1978. He then began his professional career at the regional finance department, working as a senior economist from 1978 to 1979. In 1979, he joined the regional production-technical management of communication as the head of the finance department.

Career and Achievements

Starting from September 1981, Akopdzhanyan served as the chief of the communication node in the Askeran district. In 1991, he began working in the production-technical management as the deputy chief in charge of construction. From 1993 to 2002, he concurrently held the position of the director of "Stroymontazh Svyazi" (Communication Construction) department.

In 1997, Akopdzhanyan organized the construction company "Svyazist" (Communicator), and in 2002, he founded the "Serpantin" LLC.

In September 1998, Akopdzhanyan became a member of the initiative group in the Askeran district during the underground phase of the Karabakh movement. In April 1998, he was elected as the leader (head of the staff) of the self-defense forces formation in the district.

On January 17, 2006, Akopdzhanyan was elected as the Minister of Construction of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), showcasing his expertise and dedication to the development and improvement of the region's infrastructure.
