The Pretenders

In 1978, Chambers became a member of "The Pretenders" and also worked as a driving instructor in Tufnell Park, London. In the band, Chambers quickly established himself as a versatile drummer with a powerful style, as showcased in songs like "Middle of the Road". Guitarist Adam Seymour acknowledged the unique connection between Chambers' drumming rhythm and Chrissie Hynde's guitar playing, describing it as something that could only be explained scientifically.

However, Chambers faced difficulties coping with the loss of his bandmates, Honeyman-Scott and Pete Farndon, who both died due to drug overdoses in the mid-1980s. His lack of enthusiasm eventually led to his departure from "The Pretenders" during the recording session of their fourth album, "Get Close". Hynde mentioned that she felt Chambers' playing had deteriorated and attributed it to his grief over losing Honeyman-Scott and Farndon.

The band went through several lineup changes due to the untimely deaths of its members. Chambers returned to the band during the recording of their album "Last of the Independents" in 1994 and has remained a constant presence in the group ever since. Hynde expressed her joy at his return, stating that she had missed him and that both of them were seeking support and inspiration from each other.

Other Projects

In addition to his responsibilities as the drummer for "The Pretenders", Chambers provided backing vocals on the singles "2000 Miles" and "Show Me" and took on lead vocal duties on the track "Fast Or Slow (The Law's the Law)".

Chambers is also a member of the band "Miss World", founded by musician Jonathan Perkins, who has worked with artists such as Little Richard and Keith Richards.
