Biography of Mary McFadden
Mary McFadden was born on October 1, 1938, in New York, USA. She initially studied at the "Lubec" school and then, from 1956, at the Sorbonne. Later, Mary studied fashion at the "Traphagen School of Design" and sociology at Columbia University and the New School for Social Research in New York. Two years after completing her education, Mary McFadden became the director of public relations for the House of Dior. In 1964, she began working as an editor at Vogue magazine. A year later, Mary left the magazine and became a political commentator for the Rand Daily Mail. In 1968, she returned to the fashion world, becoming a contributing editor for "My Fair Lady," "Cape Town," and "Vogue" magazines. Additionally, she became the editor of special projects for the American version of Vogue magazine.

Designing Career
Since 1973, Mary McFadden has been involved in designing clothing and jewelry. Three years later, she registered her own company, "Mary McFadden Inc." In 1976, the designer was honored with the "Coty American Fashion Critics Award." She was subsequently nominated for this award in 1978 and 1979. In the same year, McFadden received the "Audemars Piquet Fashion Award," and the following year, she received the "Rex Award," "Moore College of Art Award," and "Pennsylvania Governor's Award." In 1978, McFadden presented her furniture line. The following year, she was awarded the "Neiman Marcus Award" and became a recipient of the presidential award from the "Rhode Island School of Design." In 1981, she started producing a knitwear line and, since 1993, has been designing costumes for the brand "Zooni." Mary McFadden's style has always been characterized by original interpretations of ethnic styles and clothing elements. When creating her own designs, she drew inspiration from the cultures of India, China, Greece, South America, and Byzantium. In 1984, Mary McFadden received an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree from the Miami International Fine Arts College. Since 1999, the designer has been involved in designing ties.
