Jean Jeener was born in France in 1933. After obtaining his degree in chemical engineering in 1955, he embarked on his doctoral studies at the University of Paris. In 1967, he was awarded his doctorate degree, becoming a prominent protégé of the renowned physicist A. Abragam.

Career in Research

From 1955 to 1969, Jeener worked as a specialist at the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA). During this time, he conducted extensive research in the field of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). In 1969, he was appointed vice-director of the Collège de France, a prestigious research institution in Paris.

Director of CEA

In 1989, Jeener became the director of the CEA, a testament to his expertise in nuclear physics. He held this position until 1994, overseeing the agency's research and development programs.

Later Career

After stepping down from his role as CEA director, Jeener served as a scientific advisor to the organization from 1993 to 1995. Throughout his career, he published over 100 scientific papers and authored three monographs.
