Brian chose the stage name Marilyn Manson, combining the name of actress Marilyn Monroe and the surname of cult leader Charles Manson, to emphasize the duality within himself. Other members of the band also adopted similar pseudonyms.
In 1989, due to disagreements within the band, Manson left "Satan on Fire" and formed a new band called "Marilyn Manson & The Spooky Kids" with Scott Putesky. This lineup went through several changes and eventually became simply "Marilyn Manson." The band caught the attention of Trent Reznor, the founder of "Nine Inch Nails," who became their producer. In 1994, their album "Portrait Of An American Family" was released and gained significant success, attracting both a large fan base and a significant number of enemies, including religious organizations and authorities. Manson stated that he expected such controversy, as his album was intended to expose the illusion of "justice" and false hope in America.
Manson's subsequent albums, such as "Antichrist Superstar" (1996), "Mechanical Animals" (1998), and "Holy Wood" (2000), further solidified his popularity and reputation.
