Biography of Michael Reiziger

Michael Reiziger was born on May 3, 1973, in Amstelveen, Netherlands. He began his professional career at the age of 17 when he was invited to join the first team of Ajax by the coaches. After three seasons, he was loaned to Volendam and then to Groningen. However, when Louis van Gaal arrived at Ajax, Reiziger returned to the club and became a defender. This "second coming" proved to be successful as he secured a place in the starting lineup and won titles with the strongest club in the country, continent, and world.

In 1996, Reiziger moved to Milan under Fabio Capello, but he struggled to adapt to Italian football. The next club for the defender was Barcelona, where he transferred on July 4, 1997, on the recommendation of Van Gaal. Until the arrival of Carles Rexach, Reiziger's place in the starting lineup was never doubted.
