Michelle Greaume
Early Life and Education
Born on October 30, 1967, in Valenciennes, France, Michèle Gréaume grew up in a working-class family. She completed an internship in the administration of Onnaing during her education. Later, she worked in the administrative services of Saint-Amand-les-Eaux.
Political Beginnings
At the age of 17, Michèle Gréaume joined the Young Communist Movement of France and subsequently became a member of the Communist Party. In 2008, she was elected to the municipal council of Onnaing. Six years later, she emerged victorious in the municipal elections and became mayor of Onnaing.
Senatorial Election
In September 2017, Gréaume was elected to the French Senate from the Nord department as the second candidate on the Communist Party list. The list received 13.44% of the vote and secured two seats, one of which was awarded to Gréaume.
