Michelle Phillips is an American singer and actress, best known as a member of the group "Mamas & Papas". She was born on July 4, 1944, in California. In 1962, she moved to New York with the intention of becoming a model. There, she met John Phillips, who invited her to sing in his group, "The Journeymen". On December 31, 1962, they got married. They have a daughter, Chynna Phillips, who later formed the group "Wilson Phillips".

In 1965, after Cass Elliot and Denny Doherty joined the group, it was renamed "The Mamas And The Papas". Michelle co-wrote several songs with John, including "Creeque Alley" and "California Dreaming". In 1966, John Phillips fired Michelle from the group, accusing her of infidelity, but he asked her to come back just a month later.

After the group disbanded in 1968, Michelle began pursuing a career in acting. However, her roles in low-budget films did not bring her much success. In 1970, she divorced John Phillips and got married to actor Dennis Hopper, but their marriage only lasted eight days.

In 1975, after recording the song "Aloha Louie" composed by John Phillips, Michelle signed a contract with "A&M Records". Her debut solo album, "Victim of Romance", was released in 1977 but did not achieve significant success. That same year, Michelle participated in the recording of John Phillips' album, "Pay Pack & Follow", which was only released in 2001 after his death.

In 1982, Michelle gave birth to a son named Austin. She also appeared in the TV series "Beverly Hills 90210".
