After graduating from the Minsk Medical Institute, he embarked on a journalistic career in Belarus, writing for "FM-Bulvar," "Chaskas," "People's Will," and "Belorussian Business Paper."

In 2004, Podolyak's writing, which often criticized the Belarusian government, drew the ire of authorities. He was accused of undermining state security and deported to Ukraine in 2004. Despite the ban on his return to Belarus, he continued to write and edit for Ukrainian publications, including "Ukrainian Newspaper" and "Observer."
Political Consulting
In 2006, Podolyak transitioned to political consulting, establishing a company that specialized in "reputation management" and "conflict resolution." He worked with clients from Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia, including controversial figures like Yuri Ivaniushchenko. During the 2012 parliamentary elections, he was reportedly the political strategist for candidates in key Kyiv constituencies.

In April 2020, Podolyak joined the Office of the President as an advisor and "crisis manager."
