Personal and Educational Background

The distinguished Armenian statesman and scholar was born in 1934. He completed his medical education at the Yerevan Medical Institute in 1958, laying the groundwork for his future academic pursuits.

Scientific Achievements

His passion for research led him to attain the esteemed titles of Doctor of Biological Sciences in 1970 and Professor in 1971. His exceptional contributions to the field earned him election to the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia as a corresponding member in 1986 and a full member in 1996.

Academic Career

From 1971 to 2000, he served as the Head of the Department of Biochemistry at Yerevan State University, where he presided over groundbreaking scientific advancements. In recognition of his dedication to academia, he was bestowed the title of Honored Scientist of the Armenian SSR in 1981.

University Leadership

His multifaceted career extended beyond the classroom. From 1985 to 1989, he served as Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at Yerevan State University, shaping the university's strategic direction. His influence continued in subsequent years, with his appointment as Minister of Education of the Armenian SSR from 1989 to 1990.

Higher Education Administration

After his ministerial tenure, he returned to Yerevan State University as a Vice-Rector until 1991. His leadership extended to the biological sciences, serving as Dean of the Faculty of Biology from 1995 to 1999. Expanding his contributions to pedagogical excellence, he became Rector of the Armenian State Pedagogical University named after Kh. Abovyan from 1999 to 2002.

Later Career
