Mitchell Bard
Mitchell Bard is a political analyst specializing in American foreign policy, particularly U.S. policy in the Middle East. He is the Executive Director of the non-profit American-Israeli Cooperative Enterprise (AICE) and the Director of the Jewish Virtual Library (JVL).
Education and Career
Bard holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara (1981), a Master's in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley (1983), and a PhD in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles (1987). He also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Irvine, where he researched the Israeli rescue of Ethiopian Jews from Sudan (Operation Moses).
Bard served as the Editor-in-Chief of Near East Report, a weekly newsletter on U.S. Middle East policy published by the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). Prior to working at AIPAC, he was a Senior Analyst for the President Survey Research Group during George H.W. Bush's 1988 presidential campaign.
Authorship and Publications
Bard is the author or editor of approximately 20 books and numerous articles in scholarly journals and popular newspapers. He has written extensively on U.S.-Israeli relations, the Middle East peace process, and the history of Zionism.
