Ahmed Hassan "Gedo"
Early CareerAhmed Hassan, known as "Gedo," began his football journey at the youth center of Hosh Essa. At age 17, he joined the second-division Egyptian club El-Alaab. In 2005, he moved to Alexandria-based Al-Ittihad, extending his contract with the club until 2012 in October 2008.
Rise to Stardom with Al-Ahly
Gedo's career took off in 2010 when he signed with Egyptian giants Al-Ahly. In his first season with the club, he claimed the Egyptian Super Cup and the 2010/11 Premier League title. In 2012, he reached the pinnacle of African club football, winning the CAF Champions League with Al-Ahly. He scored a crucial goal in the 43rd minute of the final against Esperance de Tunis, helping Al-Ahly secure victory (2-1).
Loan Spells and International Success
In 2013, Gedo embarked on a loan move to English Championship side Hull City. He made his debut against Derby County, scoring his first goal for the Tigers just minutes after coming on as a substitute. Gedo's impressive form continued as he netted goals in three consecutive matches, including the only goal in a victory against Charlton Athletic. He finished his loan spell with Hull City with an impressive tally of five goals in six matches.
Gedo's international career reached its peak at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations. Initially surprised to be included in the squad, he went on to score five goals, including the winning strike in the final against Ghana. He emerged as the tournament's top scorer, solidifying his place in Egyptian football history.
