Early Life and Education

Moses Blah was born in 1947 in Toveh, a village in Nimba County, Liberia. After completing high school, he pursued further education in Hamburg, Germany.

Military Career

From 1985 to 1989, Blah trained alongside Charles Taylor at the Tajura Military College in Libya. Together, they fought in the rebel war against former Sergeant Samuel Doe, who ruled Liberia.

Appointment as President

On August 11, Moses Blah assumed the presidency of Liberia as an interim leader. However, rebel groups, which controlled most of the country, rejected his authority, viewing him as an ally of Taylor, who had been forced into exile in Nigeria.

Personal Background

Despite his rise to the presidency, Blah remained a humble man. He openly declared his loyalty to Taylor, whom he referred to as his "revolutionary brother". A devout Baptist, Blah had 14 children and grandchildren from his marriage to Nettie.
