Early Life and Education
Altynbaev was born on January 19, 1966, the son of Mukhtar Altynbaev. In 1987, he graduated from the Stavropol Higher Military Aviation College of Pilots and Navigators as a "combat control navigator."
Military Service
Early Military Career (1987-1998)Altynbaev served in various officer positions in the Air Force of the Soviet Union and Kazakhstan from 1987 to 1996. In 1998, he completed the Military Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Diplomatic Assignments (1998-2006)
From July 1998 to 1999, Altynbaev served as the assistant military attaché to Kazakhstan in the United States. He subsequently became the military attaché to Kazakhstan in the US until 1999.
Senior Military Officer (2006-2010)
In the spring of 2006, Altynbaev became the deputy chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan.
Regional Command (2010-2013)
On March 11, 2010, Altynbaev was appointed the commander of the Regional Command "Astana." On May 7, 2010, he was awarded the rank of major general.
