Early Life and Career

Narciso Isa Conde was born on November 28, 1942, in San Francisco de Macoris, Dominican Republic. As a student, he became actively involved in the Federation of Dominican Students and served as editor of the youth newspaper "Fragua."

Political Activism

In 1962, Isa Conde joined the Dominican Popular Socialist Party. Two years later, he was elected to the Central Committee of the Dominican Communist Party (DCP) and became its General Secretary in 1966. He played a key role in the armed uprising against the Trujillo dictatorship and subsequent resistance to the American occupation from 1965-1966.

Political Thought and Publications

Isa Conde has written extensively on Dominican history, revolutionary theory, and national liberation movements. He is the author of over 20 books on these topics and has visited the USSR on several occasions.

Leadership and Candidacy

Under Isa Conde's leadership, the DCP has been instrumental in uniting leftist forces in the Dominican Republic. In 1983, he founded the Dominican Left Front, which includes several Marxist groups. He ran for president of the Dominican Republic in 1978, 1982, and 1986.

International Activities

Isa Conde is a respected figure in international circles and has actively participated in seminars on Latin America. He maintained a close friendship with Kiva Maidanik, a prominent scholar and writer.
