Early Life and EducationNiccolò Jommelli, an illustrious Italian composer, was born in Aversa, Italy. He studied under the tutelage of the renowned Francesco Durante, honing his musical skills from an early age.

Jommelli's early operas, including "L'Errore amoroso," "Odoardo," "Il Ricimero," and "Astianasse," garnered significant acclaim throughout Italy, establishing him as a rising star in the musical landscape.
Influence of German Music and Years in Stuttgart
In 1753, Jommelli became the Kapellmeister in Rome. However, in 1754, he embarked on a journey to Stuttgart, where he served as the Court Kapellmeister for over two decades. During this time, he was heavily influenced by German music, which led to the composition of approximately 30 operas in that style. These works met with great success in Germany, while his prominence in Italy waned.
Return to Spiritual Music
