Biography of Nicole Kelly
Miss Iowa Beauty Pageant WinnerNicole Kelly, a blonde beauty, was crowned Miss Iowa on June 8, 2013, after winning the state's beauty pageant. What makes her victory even more remarkable is that she was born without her left arm, but this did not hinder her from achieving the title of Miss Iowa.
Upcoming Miss America Competition
At the age of 23, Nicole Kelly will be representing Iowa in the Miss America competition, which will take place in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in September. She already knows the topic she will address on stage - the importance of empowering individuals with disabilities to pursue their dreams and overcome limitations.
An Active and Determined Individual
Despite being born without her left arm, Nicole has always been physically active. From a young age, she participated in dance, baseball, swimming, and diving. As she grew older, she realized that her appearance also made her a suitable candidate for beauty pageants. Interestingly, Nicole jokes that since people would continue to stare at her regardless, she decided to give them something worth looking at by stepping onto the stage.
Theater and Broadway Experience
In 2012, Nicole graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in Theater and Directing. The following year, she interned at the Manhattan Theatre Club on Broadway. Nicole considers theater to be her true passion and a way to express herself fully. It has become the love of her life.
A Trailblazer in the Beauty Pageant World
Nicole Kelly is the second woman in the history of American beauty pageants with physical limitations to win a state title. The first was Alexis Wineman, who won the Miss Montana crown the year before with a diagnosis of autism. Like Alexis, Nicole is committed to improving the quality of life for individuals with physical disabilities.
