Nikos Anastasiades is the 7th President of the Republic of Cyprus, a Greek Cypriot politician, and the leader of the right-centrist political party, Democratic Rally. He assumed office on March 1, 2013, and is the 7th elected President of the Republic of Cyprus.

Early Life and Education
Nikos Anastasiades was born on September 27, 1946, in the village of Pera Pedi, located 4 km southeast of Platres and 26 km from Limassol. He attended the University of Athens and later specialized in maritime law at University College London (UCL). During his student years, Anastasiades was a member of the 'Centre Coalition' in Athens, founded by prominent Greek politician, Georgios Papandreou.

Career and Political Involvement
Anastasiades is a lawyer by profession and the founder of the law firm 'Nicos Chr. Anastasiades & Partners.' He was first elected to the unicameral Parliament of Cyprus in 1981 and has been the leader of his party since June 8, 1997. Throughout his career, he has formed his stance on various issues. For instance, the Democratic Rally has consistently advocated for reducing military service to a minimum number of months. In 2011, the party proposed reducing military service from 25 to 14 months, with a preference for professional soldiers. Anastasiades also suggested transforming the National Guard of Cyprus into a modern and professional military force, citing economic reasons. The saved budget funds were proposed to be allocated to education and agriculture. The President took on the commitment to reduce military service to 14 months within the first 100 days of his term.

Political Views and Achievements
Despite the majority of his party members (61%) being against the Kofi Annan plan for resolving the Cyprus conflict, Anastasiades has always been a supporter of it. Additionally, he expressed his intention to apply for Cyprus' membership in NATO in 2013.

Personal Life
In 1971, Anastasiades married Andri Moustakoudi, and they have two daughters, Elsa Anastasiades and Ino Anastasiades. He is a member of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus.
