Early Life and Education
Vyacheslav Okunev, a prominent artist from the "Sixties" movement in Omsk, began his artistic journey at the Moscow Art School from 1945-48. He later transferred to the Ivanovo Art School in 1948.
Military Service and Artistic Development
Okunev's studies were interrupted by his service in the Soviet Army from 1949-54. After his discharge, he enrolled in the Odessa Art School's pedagogical department, where he studied under Professor L. E. Mukhnik from 1954-56.
Professional Career
In 1956, Okunev worked for the Khmelnytsky Regional Cooperative Society of Artists. Two years later, he joined the Omsk branch of the Russian Federation of Artists (RFA). In 1961, he became a candidate member of the USSR Union of Artists.
Artistic Accomplishments
Okunev's talent extended beyond painting. He was a skilled muralist and designer. In 1964, he became the chief artist of Barnaul, a city in Siberia. Three years later, he was admitted as a full member of the USSR Union of Artists.
Later Years
From 1969-70, Okunev served as the chief artist of Novopolotsk, Belarus. He then returned to Omsk in 1971, where he continued to create and exhibit his works as a member of the artistic council of the Omsk branch of the RFA.
Legacy
Vyacheslav Okunev passed away in 1979, leaving behind a body of work that showcased his artistic versatility and the spirit of the "Sixties" movement. His contributions to the art world continue to be remembered and valued.
