Early Life and CareerAndriy Polunin was a Ukrainian footballer who played the position of defender. He was born in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine, and began his career with the local club "Prykarpattya". Polunin later joined "SKA (Kyiv)" before making a breakthrough move to "Dynamo (Kyiv)".
Club Career
During his time at "Dynamo (Kyiv)", Polunin achieved significant success. He played alongside renowned players such as Andriy Shevchenko and helped the team win the Ukrainian Premier League titles in 1997 and 1998. Polunin also lifted the Ukrainian Cup trophy in 1998.
After his stint with "Dynamo (Kyiv)", Polunin went on to play for various clubs, including "Arsenal", "Chornomorets", "Volyn", and "Borysfen". He made a total of 1 match for the Ukrainian national team, appearing as a substitute in a friendly match against Lithuania in 1996.
Coaching Career
Following his retirement as a player, Polunin embarked on a coaching career. He served as an assistant coach at "Borysfen" and later became the head coach of "FC Knyazha". His final coaching position was with the amateur club "FC Bucha".
Death and Legacy
Tragically, Polunin passed away on June 6, 2012, at the age of 38, due to heart failure. He was buried in his hometown of Ivano-Frankivsk. Polunin is remembered as a talented defender who made significant contributions to Ukrainian football.
