Early Life and Career

Norman Burton was born in New York City in 1923. He graduated from The Actor's Studio and began his career on stage. In 1956, he made his film debut in W. Lee Wilder's horror film "Fright."

Struggles and Breakthrough

Throughout the 1960s, Burton was frequently invited to film shoots but rarely landed significant roles. He appeared in films such as "Hand of Death" (1962) and "Womanhunt." He also made numerous guest appearances on television shows, including "Bewitched," "I Spy," "I Dream of Jeannie," "The F.B.I.," and "Judd for the Defense."

Notable Films and Television

In 1968, Burton joined the cast of Franklin J. Schaffner's science fiction classic "Planet of the Apes." He reprised his role in the 1971 sequel, "Escape from the Planet of the Apes," and later appeared in the television series. He also landed a part in the James Bond film "Diamonds Are Forever" (1971) alongside Sean Connery.

Burton's career continued in the 1980s with roles in films such as "Amy," Gordon Hessler's action thriller "Pray for Death," and television series like "Simon & Simon," "Knight Rider," and "St. Elsewhere." A notable performance was his portrayal of Helmer in Newt Arnold's martial arts film "Bloodsport" (1988).

In 1992, Burton appeared in Christian Dugay's action film "Live Wire" with Pierce Brosnan. He continued working in the 1990s, including a role in "American Ninja V" (1993). His filmography includes over 70 films, television shows, and telefilms.
