Oksana Koliada: A Distinguished Career in Ukraine's Armed Forces
Oksana Koliada, Ukraine's Minister for Veterans Affairs, Occupied Territories, and Internally Displaced Persons, has dedicated her life to serving her country.
Early Life and Education
Born on September 4, 1980, in Volochysk, Ukraine, Koliada pursued a career in law enforcement. She graduated from the Lviv State University of Internal Affairs in 2007 with a Master's degree in Law.
Military Service
After graduating, Koliada joined the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 2003. In 2015, she transferred to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and served as Head of the Communication and Press Department of the Ministry of Defense. During this period, she played a pivotal role in establishing specialized training courses for journalists covering combat zones.
Contributions to Media Communication
Koliada's efforts extended beyond military operations. She initiated the creation of regional military press centers and coordinated the work of journalists in conflict areas, including during the intense fighting in Avdiivka in January 2017. She also led the Ministry of Defense's working group on developing a strategic communications system for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Leadership Roles
From 2017 to 2018, Koliada served as Deputy Commander of the Anti-Terrorist Operation. She actively participated in the "Reform of State Communications" project, supported by the British government.
Social Advocacy
In addition to her official duties, Koliada is a passionate advocate for veterans and social welfare. She heads the public union "House of the Veteran" and has been involved in projects such as "When the War Ends" and "Face of Peace."
Family and Personal Life
Oksana Koliada is married to Mykola Koliada, who graduated from the Kharkiv Military University and the KROK University of Economics and Law. Together, they have two children.
