Biography of Oksana Marchenko

Oksana Mykhailivna Marchenko, a Ukrainian television presenter and journalist, was born on April 28, 1973, in Kyiv. She grew up in a family of a medical technician, Mikhail Andreevich, and Tatiana Grigorievna Marchenko. From an early age, Oksana aspired to become a surgeon after reading Fyodor Uglov's book "The Heart of a Surgeon."

After completing the eighth grade, Oksana enrolled in a medical school. However, her plans changed when her mother decided she needed help with taking care of her newborn brother, Andrey, and retrieved Oksana's documents. After finishing school, Oksana pursued a degree in history at the M. P. Dragomanov Pedagogical University, which she graduated from with honors in 1995.

During the 1990s student movement, Oksana actively participated in demonstrations and hunger strikes to defend her beliefs. In 1992, she won a contest for amateur television presenters and began her career on the channels "YUTAR" and "UT-1," hosting programs such as "Streamlined Tuesdays" and "Good Morning, Ukraine!" It was during a filming session that she met her first husband, Yuri Korzh.

After the birth of their son, Bogdan, Oksana briefly left her television career. However, she returned to UT-1 and hosted the program "UTN-Panorama." In 1999, Oksana met Victor Medvedchuk, a prominent politician and lawyer, at the "Person of the Year" ceremony, where she was the host. They got married in 2003 at the Foros Church.

In 2000, Oksana founded the television company "Omega-TV" and debuted with the socially-entertaining show "My Profession" on UT-1. Later, she hosted the political talk show "Hour." The same year, she initiated the production of the documentary series "Names," which aired on UT-1 and later on "Inter" starting from 2005.

Since 2007, Oksana has been the author and host of the show "Oksana Marchenko," which aims to provide real assistance to people facing hopeless situations and important life problems. From 2009 to 2014, she hosted the talent show "Ukraine Has Talent," and since 2010, she has been the host of the television show "X-Factor."

Outside of her career, Oksana's hobbies include cooking, collecting paintings and books (her home library contains rare editions of Pushkin and Gogol), swimming, and rollerblading. Since 2000, she has been regularly visiting the Svyatogorsk Svyato-Uspensky Zymnensky Women's Monastery near Vladimir-Volynsky. During Christmas and New Year, she always presents gifts to the nuns.

Oksana's personal life includes a first marriage to Yuri Vitalievich Korzh, the founder and CEO of the internet provider firm "Global Ukraine." She later married Ukrainian politician Victor Vladimirovich Medvedchuk on July 18, 2003. They have a daughter, Daria Medvedchuk, who was named after her godparents, Vladimir Putin and Svetlana Medvedeva, and was baptized in the Kazan Cathedral in St. Petersburg.

Oksana Marchenko has a sister, Diana, from her mother's side, and a sister, Anna, from her father's side. She also has a brother named Andrey. Furthermore, she is the godmother of Slava Frolova's daughter.
