Biography of Paul Costello

Paul Costello, an Irish designer, is an intriguing individual. His love for jeans and cotton shirts, as well as his rare appearances in public, do not quite align with his profession as a renowned global fashion designer. Nevertheless, he is a vibrant personality with a strong inclination towards creative processes.

Born in 1945 in Dublin, Paul grew up in a family that owned a factory specializing in outerwear. Perhaps it was this factor that sparked his interest in producing various fashionable items. At the age of sixteen, Paul left school and started working in his father's business. Soon, he developed a clear interest in fashion. In fact, even in school, art and any creative activity appealed to him the most. Furthermore, the fashion industry seemed more profitable and promising to him compared to other fields of art.

In the 1960s, Paul traveled to Paris to learn the art of fashion design. His training proved to be highly successful. Within a few years, he found himself at the prestigious fashion house Jacques Esterel, at the age of only twenty-three. Shortly after, Paul Costello began his career as a designer at Marks & Spencer and later went to Milan to further enhance his skills.

Afterwards, Paul worked in New York and Philadelphia. By that time, he was already an experienced designer and in 1979, he established his own brand in Ireland. Over the years, the Costello brand became very popular, not only in Ireland but also in other European countries and the United States. Paul Costello has never been extravagant or pretentious. On the contrary, he was free from any kind of prejudice. For example, the designer took great pride in designing uniforms for Aer Lingus and British Airways pilots.

Throughout his career, he was often described as attractive and charming. He primarily catered to women, for whom he crafted exceptional clothing collections.
