In addition to his economic writings, Laboulaye wrote several biographical essays on notable figures. These included "Channing, sa vie et sa doctrine" (1876) about the American theologian William Ellery Channing, and "Marivaux inconnu" (1880) about the French playwright Pierre Carlet de Chamblain de Marivaux.
