Early Life and Education
Phil Dunster was born on March 31, 1992, in Reading, England. Unlike his brother, Dunster had no desire to follow in his father's footsteps and join the military. Instead, he developed a passion for sports, particularly rugby and football, where he supported Wimbledon FC. After attending Leighton Park School in Reading, Dunster joined the school's rugby team but retired at age 15 due to his relatively short stature. Inspired by his love for the arts, Dunster pursued an acting career and enrolled at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
Career Beginnings
Dunster began his professional career as a stage actor, playing Claudio in a 2015 production of "Much Ado About Nothing." His performance earned him a nomination for a Laurence Olivier Award in 2016. Soon after, Dunster gained television recognition for his role as Junior Corporal Will Jensen in the Sky One series "Strike Back." He also appeared in Kenneth Branagh's 2017 film adaptation of "Murder on the Orient Express."

In 2019, Dunster portrayed Ben in the biographical drama "Judy," about Judy Garland's final concert tour. His most notable role to date came in 2020 with the comedy-drama series "Ted Lasso." As Jamie Tartt, the team's star player, Dunster underwent rigorous training to capture the essence of a professional footballer. He famously attempted to recreate Cristiano Ronaldo's infamous "Free Kick" goal against Arsenal, studying the footballer's technique and celebrating with an authentic recreation of Ronaldo's signature celebration.
