Jazz Guitarist
Paul Bollenback, born in 1959, is an acclaimed jazz guitarist who has made a name for himself in the music industry. He began learning to play the acoustic guitar at the age of seven, receiving his first instrument as a gift from his father, who was a trained classical trumpet player.
Early Musical Influences
When Paul was eleven, his family moved to New Delhi, India for three years. It was during this time that he developed a strong interest in "exotic" sounds and tones, by American standards. Upon returning to the United States, Paul received an electric guitar as a gift and started playing in a rock band. However, his life took a drastic turn at the age of sixteen when he heard Miles Davis, forever changing his musical path.
Education and Career
Paul attended the University of Miami, majoring in Music Theory. After graduation, he continued his musical education by taking private lessons in theory and composition from Baltimore-based professor Asher Zlotnick. In the early 90s, Paul toured and recorded with renowned jazz musicians such as Joey DeFrancesco, Gary Thomas, Tony Williams, Ron Holloway, and others.
Partners in Time and Recognition
In 1995, Paul recorded as part of the Russian-American project "Partners in Time" with bassist Victor Dvoskin, saxophonist Igor Butman, vibraphonist Gary Burton, trumpeter Ryan Kisor, and others. In 1997, he received the Washington Area Music Award for Musician of the Year and became an adjunct professor of music at American University in Washington, D.C.

Paul is a highly respected musician who frequently performs at prestigious events. He has opened the New York Guitar Show, played at the World Internet Trade Show in Los Angeles, and appeared on popular television shows such as Tonight Show, Good Morning America, The Today Show, and Entertainment Tonight. He has collaborated with esteemed artists including Stanley Turrentine, James Moody, Ira Sullivan, Jack McDuff, Herb Ellis, David "Fathead" Newman, Charlie Byrd, Paul Bley, Arturo Sandoval, and even the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
