Biography of Robert Addie

Robert Addie was a British actor, born on February 10, 1960. He spent his childhood in Gloucestershire, England. After finishing college, he pursued a professional career in polo and worked as an equestrian trainer.

Early Acting Career

In 1976, Addie began his acting career at the National Youth Theatre of Michael Croft in London. Shortly after, he landed his first film role in Richard Burton's "Absolution." Addie then studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art for a year but left to play the role of Mordred in John Boorman's "Excalibur."

Television and Film Career

Following his role in "Excalibur," Addie appeared in numerous television shows and films, with notable roles in "Robin of Sherwood" and "Another Country." However, in 1989, he made the decision to leave acting for personal reasons.

Return to Acting

After several years living in the United States and Spain, Addie returned to England in 1995 and resumed his acting career. He performed in theaters in the south of England and also appeared in television shows and films. His notable later works include roles in "The New Adventures of Robin Hood," "A Knight in Camelot," and "Mary, Mother of Jesus." Addie's final film role was a small part in the widely known film "Intimacy."

Personal Life and Legacy

Robert Addie resided in his hometown of Gloucestershire, spending his free time reading books and playing golf. He was a father of three children and had been married and divorced three times. Addie was fluent in Spanish and had a good command of French. He was also knowledgeable about horses and was an excellent fencer and archer.

Sadly, Robert Addie passed away on November 20, 2003, after a short battle with lung cancer at the age of 43.
