Rodrigo Moreno: A Brazilian-Born Spanish Striker

Rodrigo Moreno Machado was born on March 6, 1991, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He began his professional career in 2009 with Real Madrid C, the third-tier reserve team of Real Madrid. After a successful season with Real Madrid Castilla, where he scored 5 goals in 18 appearances, Rodrigo was signed by Portuguese club Benfica in July 2010 for a transfer fee of €6 million.

Loan to Bolton Wanderers

In August 2010, Rodrigo was loaned to English club Bolton Wanderers due to Benfica's inability to guarantee him regular playing time. He made his debut for the club in the League Cup match against Burnley and later played his first Premier League match against Wigan Athletic. Rodrigo scored his first goal for Bolton against the same team in January 2011, which remained his only goal for the club despite playing 20 matches that season.

Return to Benfica and Breakthrough

After returning to Benfica, Rodrigo became a regular starter for the club, forming a striking partnership with Óscar Cardozo and displacing Nolito from the starting lineup.

Transfer to Valencia

In June 2015, Rodrigo was signed by Valencia CF from Benfica for a transfer fee of €30 million. He signed a contract with the Spanish club until June 2019.

International Career

Rodrigo represented Spain at the Under-19 level, reaching the final of the European Championship in 2010. He also played in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup the following year, scoring 3 goals and helping his team reach the quarter-finals.
