Early Life and Career at Excelsior

Roland Bergkamp, a Dutch footballer and nephew of the legendary Dennis Bergkamp, began his footballing journey at TOGB in Berkel en Rodenrijs. At the age of 15, he joined the youth academy of Excelsior Rotterdam, signing a three-year contract with the club in 2008.

Debut with Excelsior and Breakthrough

On August 14, 2009, Bergkamp made his senior debut for Excelsior in an Eerste Divisie match against FC Den Bosch, which Rotterdam won 3-2 away. His first goal for the club came on March 12, 2010, against MVV Maastricht. In his first season, he scored three goals in 26 league appearances, helping his team earn promotion to the Eredivisie.

Loans and Move to Emmen

In August 2012, Bergkamp joined VVV-Venlo on a loan deal. The following year, in July 2013, he signed a 1+1 contract with FC Emmen.

Return to Excelsior and Success with Sparta

On June 24, 2015, Bergkamp returned to Excelsior, signing a two-year contract. He later played for Sparta Rotterdam, where he won the Eerste Divisie title in the 2015/16 season.

Personal Life

Bergkamp's father, Ad Bergkamp, is an orthopedic surgeon who works for Excelsior's medical staff.
