Roman Bondarenko - Soviet and Ukrainian football player

Roman Bondarenko was a Soviet and Ukrainian football player who excelled as a forward and midfielder. He spent his entire career playing for the team based in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine. From 1987 to 1999, spanning a period of 12 years, Bondarenko played for the "Torpedo" team in Zaporizhzhia. During his time with the team, he emerged as a leader in the attack and one of the top goal scorers. In the Soviet era, he competed in the second division of the USSR.

Success in Ukrainian football

In 1990, Bondarenko achieved success by winning the second-tier league of the USSR. From 1992 to 1998, he played in the top-tier Ukrainian league. He then spent the 1998-1999 season in the first division before concluding his career with the "Metallurg" team in the top-tier league.

International participation

In 1998, Bondarenko received an invitation from Pojechevsky to represent the Turkmenistan national team at the Asian Games held in Thailand. He played several matches and successfully advanced to the quarterfinals with the team. However, he did not play for the national team again.

Impressive career statistics

Over the course of his career, Bondarenko played a total of 456 matches and scored 112 goals. In the Soviet championships, he played 194 matches and scored 50 goals. In the Ukrainian top-tier league, he competed in 231 matches and scored 54 goals. He also played 31 matches and scored 8 goals in the first division. Notably, Bondarenko was known for his reluctance to give interviews to journalists.
