Early Career
Born and raised in Ukraine, Roman Karakevych began his professional football career with the lower-league club Sokil Zolochiv. He made his debut in the Ukrainian First League on July 26, 2002, in a scoreless draw against Naftovyk-Ukrnafta.
Rise to Prominence
In 2003, Karakevych joined FC Rava, which competed in the Amateur Football Association of Ukraine (AAFU). He played a pivotal role in the team's promotion to the Ukrainian Second League, emerging as the league's top scorer with an impressive 21 goals.
Vysshaya Liha Debut
The summer of 2004 marked a significant milestone in Karakevych's career as he transferred to FC Metalurh Zaporizhzhia of the Ukrainian Vysshaya Liha (top division). He made his league debut on July 15, 2004, against FC Borysfen Borispil.
Loan Spells and Return to Top-Flight Football
Karakevych spent the next few years in the Ukrainian First League on loan with various clubs, including FC Zorya Luhansk, FC Obolon Kyiv, and FC Volyn Lutsk. In the summer of 2007, he returned to the Vysshaya Liha by joining FC Naftovyk-Ukrnafta.
Later Career
In February 2009, Karakevych signed a contract with FC Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih. He remained with the club until the end of his playing career.
