Ronnie Garvin, a Canadian professional wrestler and referee, reached the peak of his popularity during his time in the National Wrestling Alliance. Born on March 30, 1945, Garvin began his professional wrestling career in 1962. In the 1960s and early 1970s, Ronnie formed a team with wrestler Terry Garvin and won several titles while performing at regional wrestling shows.

After the dissolution of the team, Garvin made a name for himself with his brilliant performances in Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, and Tennessee. He then joined the International Championship Wrestling promotion and competed fiercely against well-known wrestlers such as Randy Savage. Later, Ronnie Garvin became part of Jim Crockett Promotions and earned the nickname "Hands of Stone."

In late 1988, Garvin caught the attention of the American Wrestling Association and began performing under its banner. Shortly after, he joined the WWF wrestling federation and adopted the name "The Reliable."
