Early Life and Education
Born in 1959 in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, Ruben Karlenovich Mirzakhanyan graduated from Secondary School No. 114 and the Faculty of History at Yerevan State University. In 1984, he obtained a Candidate of Historical Sciences degree, and in 1986, he became an Associate Professor.
Academic and Professional Career
In 1980, Mirzakhanyan began his career as a master of industrial training and a teacher of political economy at Technical School No. 17. In 1981, he joined the Armenian State Pedagogical University named after Kh. Abovyan as a researcher and educator.
In 1990, he became the Dean of the Faculty of Culture, teaching the history of politics and world culture.
Political Involvement
In 1991, Mirzakhanyan was elected Chairman of the Founding Council of the Pan-Armenian National Movement (HHSh). Later that year, he was elected Chairman of the Republican Board of the HHSh, a position he held until July 1996.
He was also a member of the founding editorial board of the newspaper "Azg" and the monthly "Paykar," as well as a member of the founding council of the "Tekeyan" center.
Return to Politics and Public Service
In 1999, Mirzakhanyan was re-elected as Chairman of the Republican Board of the HHSh and became a member of the Political Council under the President of Armenia. He was re-elected to this position in 2001 and 2003, holding it until July 18, 2003.
Throughout his career, Mirzakhanyan authored numerous scholarly and journalistic articles and participated in international political and academic conferences.
