Sabir Gadzhiev: Azerbaijani Scientist and Academician

Early Life and Education

Sabir Gadzhiev was born on September 23, 1928, in Nakhchivan, Azerbaijan. After completing high school in 1946, he enrolled at the Nakhchivan State Teachers' Institute. In 1948, he began teaching at a secondary school in Julfa.

In 1951, Gadzhiev entered the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics at Azerbaijan State University. He went on to earn a doctorate in physics and mathematics in 1974 and was awarded the title of professor in 1975.

Academic Career

In 1978-1988, Gadzhiev served as Dean of the Faculty of Physics at Azerbaijan State University (ASU). From 1972-1992, he headed the Department of Structure of Matter. In 2005, he became Director of the Institute of Physical Problems at Baku State University, a position he holds to this day.

Research Contributions

Sabir Gadzhiev is the author of 135 published scientific papers. Under his guidance, two doctoral and around 22 candidate dissertations have been defended.

His most significant contributions include:

- Proposing a renormalizable model of 4-fermion interaction.

- Summing up ladder and rainbow diagrams and reducing them to integral equations.

- Developing a method for determining quantum field functions in gauge theories, which led to the solution of algebraic equations.

Teaching and Outreach

Gadzhiev has taught courses in classical electrodynamics, gauge field theory, group theory, atomic physics, and nuclear physics. He has actively engaged in scientific conferences and workshops, sharing his expertise with students, researchers, and professionals in the field.

Honors and Recognition

In 1983, Sabir Gadzhiev was elected a Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan SSR. He has received numerous awards and accolades for his scientific achievements, including the Order of Friendship of Peoples from the USSR.
