Early Life and Education
Sangadzhi T. Tardabayev was born on April 15, 1982, in Elista, Russia. His father, Andrei Sangadzhiyevich Tardabayev, was Kalmyk, while his mother, Makpal Gabdulovna Tardabayeva, was Kazakh. Tardabayev excelled in his studies, graduating from Elista Secondary School No. 10 with a gold medal in 1999.
He pursued higher education at the Russian University of Peoples' Friendship (RUDN), where he studied International Relations from 1999 to 2005. Tardabayev immersed himself in international affairs, completing internships in Egypt's Helwan University and Syria's Damascus University. In 2008, he earned his Specialist in International Relations degree and became a proficient translator in English and Arabic.
Media Career
Tardabayev's passion for entertainment led him to become a popular figure in Russian television. In 2007-2008, he co-hosted the travel show "Around the World" (RTV), which later transitioned to the "My Planet" channel in 2011. His involvement in the media industry expanded when he founded "VBD Group," a television production company, in 2008.
VBD Group produced numerous successful programs for CTC, including "Let's Go Young!", "One for All," "Ural Pelmeni," "Video Battle," and "Kitchen." Tardabayev received the prestigious TEFI-2011 award for Producer of a Television Program for his work on "One for All."
In 2012, he established "My Way Productions," known for projects such as "This is Funny" (Russia 1), "St. Petersburg Street" (Russia 1), "Saltykov-Shchedrin Show" (NTV), and "Cinema Show" (NTV). Together with "Fight Nights Global," he became one of the founders and producers of the successful fight promotion company.
Political and Public Service
Tardabayev's involvement in social and political affairs began in 2014 when he became a member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation. He led the Commission on Youth Initiatives and chaired the Non-Governmental Association "World Association of Higher Education Graduates" (2015-2021).
In 2019, he was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Kalmykia and Permanent Representative to the President of the Russian Federation, resigning in 2020. From 2019 to 2020, Tardabayev served as a member of the Public Chamber of Moscow.
In 2021, he ran for the State Duma as a candidate from the "New People" party. Elected as a deputy on September 19, 2021, Tardabayev became Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Tourism and Tourist Infrastructure on October 12, 2021. Notably, he expressed his opposition to Russia's invasion of Ukraine in March 2022.
Personal Life
Sangadzhi Tardabayev married Tatiana in 2012. They have two sons: Temujin (born 2013) and Dantsan (born 2018).
