Biography of Severina Porino

Severina Porino was born on April 21, 1972, in the city of Split in the Socialist Republic of Croatia. Her artistic career began at a young age when she joined the renowned Croatian music theater KUD Mosaic, where she played a significant role in the popular musical "Freja Strapalo" at the age of ten. Her true breakthrough came when Remi Kazinoti wrote several arrangements for the theater choir. Shortly after, she became a star at the Plaza Hotel in Orniska, where she performed her songs with the group Third Shift.

After a successful performance in the "Demo X" competition organized by Radio Zagreb, the young singer had the opportunity to record her debut album. The seventeen-year-old performer's debut album was titled "Severina," and the song "Take me dancing" from this album became her first hit. She was later invited to Zagreb, where she tried herself as a host on NTV in the show "Top cup."

The song "Take me dancing" was also recognized as the best by the jury of the Zagreb Festival. Severina participated in recording the song "My homeland," which caught the attention of Zrinko Tutic, in whose studio Severina recorded her best compositions. Her third album, which started with the song "Dalmatinka," became a true hit among Croatian audiences. Songs such as "Paloma Nera" and "The Man I Love," with lyrics written by the famous Gibon, were loved by the public.

The album "Green Grass," a logical continuation of Severina's musical masterpieces, performed in a duet with Drazen Jerik Zhera under the collective name "You are my Heart" and composed by Miro Buljane in the songs "Fire and Ice" and "Hold out Your Hands," was recognized as the most impressive in Severina's career. With the release of her next album, "My thing," Severina became known as a representative of female rock music.

Thanks to the enthusiasm and triumph of the Croatian football team, which took third place in France, Severina's song "Girl from The Country" became one of her greatest hit albums with the same name. Severina herself composed three songs from this album. "Girl from The Country" solidified Severina's status as a music leader and marked her further break with Zrinko Tutic's production agency.

In the early summer of 1999, Severina recorded the album "I'm Only Singing" with hits such as "Ante," "If You Were Mine," "I'm Only Singing," and "Touch My Knees," which sold over 50,000 copies. Severina is the author of two and co-author of four songs on this album. At the same time, she released her latest album, "Paloma Nera Live," with recordings from a concert at the Zagreb Sports Hall, where the album "Dalmatinka" had been previously presented.
