Sándor Varga, the most well-known football agent in FIFA, was born in Soviet Zakarpattia. He played football at an amateur level and studied at Lviv Institute of Physical Education. In 1979, he graduated from Moscow University with a degree in the same field and was part of a comprehensive scientific group conducting research for the Soviet national team. It was under Varga's guidance that the first transfer he facilitated took place, which was the move of Yuriy Kalitvintsev from Kiev's Dynamo to Trabzonspor in Turkey. However, ten years prior, he had already played a role in the transfer of Sergei Aleinikov from Minsk's Dinamo to Juventus.
