Biography of Shawn Robock
Shawn Robock was born on April 14, 1977, in Park City, Utah, USA. She is a bobsled pilot specializing in driving two-person sleds in bobsled competitions. With numerous victories under her belt, the most significant achievement for Robock is winning the silver medal at the Turin Olympics, where she and Valerie Fleming secured second place. Robock's sled finished just 1.2 seconds behind Sandra Kiriasis' (Germany) sled, the winner of the World Cup and the clear favorite for the Olympics.

Early Career and Inspirations
Growing up on her parents' farm, Robock enjoyed a carefree life, exploring on her old motorcycle or skateboard. She attributes her excellent health, a key factor in her future success, to this upbringing. Interestingly, before pursuing bobsledding, Robock was a successful soccer player. She played for the San Diego Spirit, scoring 95 goals in 368 matches. It was only during her last year of college that she became captivated by bobsledding.

Inspirational figures like Jill Bakken, who won an Olympic gold medal in bobsledding, motivated Robock to pursue her athletic dreams. She even attended races where Bakken triumphed, expressing her enthusiasm to the point that people thought she would go crazy. Robock still rides the same sled that Bakken used, affectionately calling it "Buddy."
Sporting Achievements
Robock's bobsledding career has been marked by several significant victories. She won a silver medal at the 2006 Turin Olympics, alongside Valerie Fleming, which stood as the sole medal for the US in bobsledding at those games. Additionally, Robock earned a silver medal at the World Championships in 2009 and bronze medals at the 2005 and 2007 World Championships. Despite her accomplishments in bobsledding, many are unaware that Robock's sporting journey began in a completely different field and had no connection to snowy slopes.
Military Service and Personal Life
In addition to her athletic achievements, Robock serves as a sergeant in the National Guard of Utah. Her regiment was mobilized and sent to Iraq in 2003, but Robock was unable to join her fellow soldiers due to a recent shoulder injury that prevented her from passing the medical examination. Outside of her sporting and military responsibilities, Robock comes from a large family with seven siblings. She now has 28 nieces and nephews, who consider her the most energetic and fun-loving member of the family.
