Early Life and Education
Sibeth Ndiaye was born on December 13, 1979, in Dakar, Senegal, to an activist father. In 1995, she moved to France as a teenager and attended Lycée Montaigne in Paris, earning a scientific baccalaureate degree. She went on to study political philosophy at Paris Diderot University and obtained a DESS diploma in health economics from Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne University.
Political Activism and Early Career
Ndiaye became involved in student politics, joining the Socialist Party in 2002. After graduating in 2007, she began her professional career in 2008 as part of the press team of the Seine-Saint-Denis General Council, becoming its head in 2010. Within the party, she served as National Secretary for Childhood in 2009 and later became head of the press team in the office of Economy Minister Arnaud Montebourg in 2012. She retained her position under Montebourg's successor, Emmanuel Macron.
Macron's Team and Government Spokesperson
In September 2016, Ndiaye joined Macron's En Marche! movement as head of its press service. She gained widespread attention on June 12, 2018, when she released a video containing statements by President Macron that were perceived as derogatory towards poor people. Despite the controversy, Ndiaye was appointed Secretary of State to the Prime Minister and government spokesperson on March 31, 2019.
Post-Government Career
Following the resignation of Prime Minister Philippe in July 2020, Ndiaye was not appointed to any position in Castex's government. She subsequently joined the "National Commission on Talents" within the La République En Marche! party, tasked with identifying and nurturing talented young individuals.
