Early Life and Amateur Career

Sofiane Oumiha was born in Toulouse, France, on December 23, 1994. He began boxing at the age of seven, training under coaches Mehdi Oumiha and Adama Diarra. In 2012, he won the Danas Pozniak Cup in Lithuania and earned a bronze medal at the Youth World Championships in Yerevan.

In 2013, Oumiha made his mark as a member of the French national team. He won the gold medal in the lightweight division at the Mediterranean Games in Mersin, Turkey. He also won the French Lightweight Championship in 2014 and 2015.

Olympic Success

At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Oumiha won a silver medal in the lightweight division. He defeated Teofimo Lopez, Amnat Ruenroeng, and Albert Selimov before losing to Robson Conceição in the final.

World Champion and Continued Amateur Success

In 2017, Oumiha won the Lightweight World Championship in Hamburg, Germany. He defeated reigning champion Lazaro Alvarez in the final. In 2021, he reached the Round of 16 at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo before losing to Keyshawn Davis.

Professional Career

Oumiha made his professional debut on February 26, 2022, defeating Anderson Rangel by technical knockout in the fourth round. As of November 2022, he has a professional record of 130-130 and is ranked as the 4th best French boxer in the lightweight division.
